The volcano crater lake Meke Golu is located 8 kilometers outside of the centralanatolian city of Karapinar. The volcano is a world-wide singular nature wonder in this kind. After a enormous volcano eruption eternal times before, rain water collected itself inside of the more than 1500 meters width ellipse form crater and built an about 11 meters deep lake, which is strongly salty today.
With a second later outbreak of the volcano a further, still higher volcanic cone in the center of this lake in the middle of the original crater developed, which consists of cooled off basaltic lava and rocky volcano stone Rhyolith. It is a fascinating sight, how the volcanic cone in the center of the powerful crater gleams red in the burning noontime sun.
The stony ground is covered with grey-black volcanic ashes. Inside the large crater exists a small salt lake, which has a high portion of sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and chlorine. At the edges of the salt lake are some flamingos. When I came more near, they raise hasty into the air and fly away in nice formation over bald cliffs of the enormous crater.
